Open jam sessions

In a time when we have no idea what we’re going to wake up to, bringing openness, curiosity and joy back to not knowing what's next becomes a survival skill.

Our open jams are curated with this intention: practising improvisation, active listening, curiosity, trust and collaboration. In a space of no rehearsals, we’re truly rehearsing the future.

Deep listening & collaboration through music

Deep listening & collaboration through music

Jamming is more than a music skill – it’s a human one that can be practised by musicians and audiences. So AfterNOiSE, our open jam session, creates a safe space to have fun with improvisation, active listening and cooperation.

Instead of imagining a world where we actually listen, respond, adapt, contribute and create together, we create it with every AfterNOiSE open jam.

afterNOiSE IS:

- Completely improvised, yet feels polished. Fun fact, it’s often been mistaken for a band, drawing comparisons with the Ezra Collective

- A way to rehearse the future, and practise the skills of improvisation, active listening and cooperation.

- A platform for freedom of expression, supporting many creative forms, genres, and types of instrumentalists. We’ve had everything from spoken word, rappers, power vocalists, flutists, electric violinists, Turkish saz players, and dancers

- A dynamic, co-created live music format hosted by – and drawing in – some of the finest talent from London’s grassroots scene

- Rehearsal-free, improvised music across genres and moods

- An organic space for networking, connection, and collaboration

- A platform for outstanding emerging talent, with a short 15-minute spotlight built into each jam

- A no-cost night out, keeping barriers to access low and entertainment open to all

afterNOiSE IS not:

- An open mic

- Cliquey

- Rehearsed

open jams matter because

Freedom of expression, the ability to improvise, and active listening are essential for human progress.
