We’re bringing genuine human connection to live music and the content that lives on after. Standby is our intimate live music series filmed up close for musicians who deserve better listening. It’s a produced live show captured in the room and made for the screen, designed for human connection – and meant to be enjoyed long after the music stops.

After years of working with grassroots musicians, we know the pressure of trying to build an audience, a fanbase.
Big online followings don’t always translate into ticket sales. And audiences aren’t always there to listen. What’s missing is loyalty and connection.
As London’s storytelling collective, we’ve been using the power of stories to cultivate audiences who truly listen and care.
That’s why STANDBY is an intimate live music gig, combining storytelling, live music, and conversation.
The format commands attention, allowing musicians to slow down, share their story and connect with people who actually came to listen. We also film the performance and capture the encounter - some goes online, some stays in the room.
That's how genuine community forms around artists. And that's how real fans are built.
How STANDBY works
For Artists

Share your music, of course. But, importantly, tell us your story and that of your music.
If selected, we'll curate & produce and film and edit your session.
You’ll get content that you can continue sharing long after the performance. And live on socials too.
For AUDIENCES
STANDBY sessions have just 30 seats. They reclaim listening by producing highly curated lives. And give artists the exposure, attention and respect they deserve.

STANDBY FOR ANSWERS

Standby is curated, not competitive. We look at the music, live performance, story, creative process, fit with the format and the shape of the wider programme.

No. Standby is open to artists at different stages of their careers. We care more about the work, the person behind it, their story – and whether it makes sense for the format.

No. An application is an invitation for us to consider your work. We can't programme everyone, and not being selected isn't a judgement on the quality of your music.

Absolutely. Timing and programme fit change, so a no now doesn't necessarily mean a no later.

We strongly prefer original music. If you'd like to perform a cover, let us know in your application so we can check any recording and rights requirements.

We'll contact you directly to discuss the session, filming, timings, production and content. Selected artists will receive separate participation and recording terms before taking part.

You do. You retain the rights you already hold in your songs and music. Any filming, recording and use of the Standby session will be agreed with you separately before the performance.

Yes. Standby is designed as both an intimate live experience and a professionally filmed piece of content, with selected material created for you and What Does Not to share.
