TALENT
Elly J Devon
Elly is a singer/songwriter hailing from the beautiful Devon countryside. Her home is her biggest inspiration. This is where she draws her narratives of love, loss, our connection to each other but also to nature itself, and our balance within it.
She began singing at the age of six, taking to her grandmother’s piano and knew that this was her calling and purpose for the rest of her life. Classically trained at the Wells Cathedral School on a singing scholarship, she developed her own unique voice and style.
Elly released her debut EP ‘Soliloquy’ in October 2020 where her track ‘For Dan’ was chosen as Upload Of The Week by BBC Music Introducing In The South West. Her musical influences include big soul singers such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Amy Winehouse, the storytelling of Kate
Bush, the truths of Bob Marley and the balls-iness of AC/DC.
DIDO WILSON
Nineteen-year-old Dido grew up in a big family surrounded by various musical influences – her dad introduced her to blues and jazz, her sisters to 90s pop, and her mum to all the great singersongwriters.
But jazz was the genre she gravitated towards the most.
As a self-taught guitar and piano player, Dido spent countless hours writing songs, singing covers and perfecting her vocal riffs. She learned to play these instruments by ear, fascinated that harmony could be created from strings and keys.
A big part in her musical journey can be attributed to Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae – their music was the first time she learnt to analyse song writing and harmony. And it’s this music she always turns to whenever she’s feeling lost.
Dido aspires to be the sort of artist that travels a lot, playing shows and doing sessions. She dreams of collaborating with people from different creative industry backgrounds and hopes to get her music released into the world very soon. Watch this space.
